The Beauty Of Sleeping Wood: this has now been cast. Joining author/director Eric Stevens are Peter and Verena Bradbury, Doreen Carter, Trish Daly, Jim Duffy and Chris Whittle, plus a baby, a vacuum cleaner and six unsuspecting members of the audience. It promises to be an evening of good lighthearted fun. (Altogether now) OH YES IT DOES!
January Club Night: All BATS’ members are cordially invited to our traditional 12th Night Party to be held on Saturday 5th January and described as:
Food and fun and games for all ages. You are invited to come as a character in any well known play of pantomime but fancy dress is optional. There is a prize for best costume.
Full details are in the January newsletter which members should have received or be receiving any day now.
Future Club Nights: the February club night will be a performed pantomime reading (if you have read down this far you might be able to work out which pantomime) and the March club night will be the AGM.

The play schedule for 2008 may only just have been announced, but we are already looking for members to join the Play Selection Sub-Committee who will help sift through the plays suggestions for our 2009 schedule. Please contact Eric on 218244 if you are interested in helping out.
The BATS has announced its chosen charity for 2008 as the 9th Bexhill Scout Troop. A donation will be made to them after performances of Verdict, and they will be running a raffle at the show so please help us support this worthwhile local cause.

Congratulations have to be extended to Peter Bradbury and everyone involved with the fantastic production of The Railway Children. This family-orientated production has been the most succesful show hosted at the De La Warr for over 15 years! Let’s hope we can continue to build on this huge success.

Director John Simmonds has announced details of 2008’s Lent Play as follows:
- to be performed at various local churches during the week 19th-16th March, Passion Sunday to Palm Sunday (though I suspect this may be corrected soon)
- Reading and audition to be held on 30th December 7pm at 15 Glenleigh Park Road, Bexhill-on-Sea
- There are parts for two men and four women, and a girl aged between 8 and 13.
- A full audition notice will follow; in the meantime please contact either John on 219564 or Dorothy on 214095 for further details.

The November Club Night takes place at 7:30pm on Friday the 2nd of November, and is described as follows:
A performed reading of a murder mystery play - come and solve the puzzle of this whodunit. Deerstalkers and magnifying glasses not required, just sharp ears and intuition. Refreshments (brain food) available 50p.
December’s Club Night will take place at 7:30pm on Friday the 7th December, and is described as follows:
This December club night will be a festively social evening - with mulled wine and mince pies of course but a chance to sample some delights from around the world as well.
And January’s Club Night will take place at 7:30pm on Friday the 5th January and is described as follows:

- Nov - A Man For All Seasons by Robert Bolt, directed by Eric Stevens
The Lent Play will be Night On The Hill to be directed by John Simmons
Romeo & Juliet is our annual open-air production and will be performed as usual at the Manor Barn; Quartet is a “studio production”, the venue for which has yet to be confirmed; Verdict, Kindly Leave The Stage and A Man For All Seasons will all be performed at the De La Warr Pavilion.

BATS’ members are taking part in a Murder Mystery Evening on Saturday 29th September at All Saints Church. The audience will be invited to participate in the clue solving.
